How to get to SAMS
The SAMS Scottish Marine Institute is located 3 miles from Oban on the A85 (see location map) near the village of Dunbeg and is adjacent to the 13th century Dunstaffnage Castle. The nearest airports are Glasgow (ca 2 hours by car) and Prestwick and Edinburgh (both ca 3 hours by car). A train service operates between Glasgow and Oban. Please contact SCOTRAIL for more details. All travel options by public transport from the South require travelling through central Glasgow.

All visitors to SAMS must report to reception on arrival. Parking is available for visitors in our visitors' carpark at the front of the building.
How to arrange a visit to SAMS
SAMS warmly welcomes visitors, and acts as a field station for visiting groups.
To organise study visits for groups please contact Mr Ivan Ezzi.
Fellow scientists wanting to arrange a sabbatical or to collaborate with a specific member of staff, please contact the scientist you would like to work with or the SAMS director.
SAMS members, visiting scientists, journalists or members of the public with an interest in visiting SAMS and being given a tour around the facilities, please contact the Head of Communications, Dr Anuschka Miller.
Commercial visitors should contact the Director of Knowledge Transfer, Mr Dave Gunn.
Organisations or individuals wanting to hire conference or meeting rooms are looked after by the Company Secretary, Mrs Elaine Walton.
SAMS organises an annual open day for the general public to access the facilities. The next open day will be on Saturday, 29th May 2010 and is part of Oban's first Festival of the Sea.
