My early interest in health and safety grew while I was working as a laboratory technician at the University of Birmingham, during which time I completed a Masters degree studying the immune response and an initial health and safety qualification through NEBOSH. I then took a position involving laboratory management and in 2002, joined the University of Oxford as a safety officer where I gained a wide range of experience in safety management and completed my NEBOSH Diploma. I then became Safety Manager at the Royal Veterinary College before taking the position at SAMS.
My role here at SAMS is to ensure the implementation and coordination of the health and safety management policy and its procedures. I am also responsible for the provision of safety advice to all staff and students.
I am a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
