SAMS offers a range of commercial services including environmental surveying, sampling, monitoring and analysis, to enable the sustainable exploitation and management of the oceans. We operate globally and our clients include industry, government, NGOs and the general public.
SAMS Environmental Services include EIAs and SEAs for Offshore Renewables and Resources Extraction, Consultancy Services for Environmental Policy (including Marine Spatial Planning, Marine Protected Areas, and the Scottish/UK Marine Bill) and Biofuel R&D. SAMS also offer Laboratory-based Analytical Services (measuring chemical, biological, sedimentological and radiochemical parameters from water, tissue and sediment samples). SAMS has an in-house development programme for microsensors and other autonomous lander instrumentation.
SAMS’ unique selling point is our in-house breadth of expertise and services. For example, when providing Environmental Impact Assessments we utilise our in-house scientific expertise, specialist infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities.
Our commercial services are administered through a wholly owned trading subsidiary: SAMS Research Services Limited (SRSL). Through SRSL we link marine related solutions to wider societal and commercial imperatives.
We have considerable expertise in managing large and complex projects, combining the biological, geochemical and hydrographic requirements of marine assessments and also offering expertise in modelling and the development of long term technological solutions. We offer Project Management as an option for all of our Environmental Services.
