SAMS has a fully capable production workshop.  It is equipped with lathe and milling machine capability.  The workshop can produced parts from CAD drawings and has the experience to fabricate and design parts to meet actual scientific requirements. The workshop has recently benefited from an equipment upgrade.  This includes a Chieftain 2602 lathe, pillar drill and Mig/tig welder.

The workshop is staffed by a full time, time served Tool Maker, assisted by a time served Fitter Turner.
