Scientific Interests
• Internal tides and waves: their generation, variability, and relationship to turbulent mixing in the ocean
• Polar oceanography: esp. the physical processes that result in variability in the heat and salt content of the upper layers of the Arctic Ocean
• Adapting and using novel technologies such as profiling drifters, autonomous underwater vehicles, and moored instrumentation to the study of these processes
Current / Recent Projects
• SCICEX
• COAST
• HOME
• AUV observations of mixing in the coastal ocean off Oregon
• OrCOOS
