My job at SAMS

My responsibility is to oversee all operations of the Seaweed Nursery based within SAMS Enterprise, with a particular emphasis on seeded-line production for commercial and academic clients.

This requires managing the propagation, health and wellbeing of client-sourced seaweed during all stages of development in order to maximize yield for out-planting, as well as curating and building our growing kelp gametophyte biobank.

In addition, I will support business development activities for seeded line product and provide input to seaweed consultancy, including client engagement and product development.

Prior to this, I worked in a technical capacity on research projects investigating algae:pathogen interactions in the context seaweed husbandry and farming
