Waites, Professor Richard

Trustee

Richard has been an academic at the University of York since 2001. He is currently Director for Students in the Biology Department overseeing the journey of ~1400 students through their undergraduate, post-graduate and research degrees.

Richard is a plant developmental biologist by training and has carried out research at the Universities of Edinburgh and Cologne, as well as the University of York.

Richard has twice received a Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Award and has won Excellence Awards from the University of York Student Union in four different categories.

Richard has extensive experience in improving teaching and learning, and student support, across each of the Faculties at the University of York and has also worked with several other leading UK Universities. He has also served on a broad range of University committees.
