Friday 13th March, 2020

Register today!

This event, and the information visitors will receive on the day, is designed for those who have applied to SAMS UHI and been offered a place on our University of the Highlands and Islands programme. If you are thinking of applying to study BSc (Hons) Marine Science at SAMS UHI, and unable to attend our Open Day in November, then our Applicant’s Day may be a suitable alternative.

The daytime schedule is designed to answer those all important questions that successful applicants may have. It includes talks from programme leaders, information on specific programmes, finance and student support. Applicants can also get a real feel for the place after meeting with lecturers, staff and students and by exploring the facilities we have here at our spectacular "university on the beach".

'Sea' the world differently at a SAMS UHI Open Day

Our Open Days are a great way to learn more about studying marine science at the oldest marine research institution in the UK - The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS). The events give you the opportunity to explore the facilities we have here for our students at our spectacular "university on the beach", located at Dunstaffnage, just outside of Oban on the beautiful west coast of Scotland.
Hear first-hand what students, staff and lecturers think about studying here and the research opportunities available.
You can come on your own, with parents, or as part of a school group. Everyone is welcome to attend including school students, further education students, mature students, parents, teachers and career advisers. It is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Our Open Days normally include talks from programme leaders, information on specific programmes, student life presentations, information on finance and student support. There is also the opportunity to meet staff, lecturers and students too.

Our courses are administered and awarded by the University of the Highlands and Islands and delivered face-to-face here at SAMS UHI. SAMS is Scotland's premier independent marine research institution and the degree curriculum strongly reflects the research strengths of our scientists.
