Finance Business Analyst Manager

I am a qualified finance professional with 30 years of experience in a variety of roles across several sectors and locations. I have worked in Scotland, Australia, England and France in local government, healthcare, retail, resources and leisure.

Most of my roles have been centred around internal and external reporting, from compiling budgets, monthly reporting, forecasting and performance management through to year end reporting.

Additionally, I provide a true business partner relationship by working with operational managers and budget holders to maximise use of resources in meeting organisational goals.

My role at SAMS

My role is to provide in-depth analysis of the financial drivers of the organisation – revenue, cost and cash in order to improve reporting to stakeholders.

I work closely with the Head of Financial Services and Senior Finance Partners to provide a business partnering approach, ensure compliancy across services, working together to provide regular and accurate information to internal/external customers, funders and regulatory bodies.

I lead the financial planning and budgeting processes, and assist with forecasting and internal/ external reporting. My team provide financial management of circa 100 research contracts, through regular monitoring and the provision of accurate financial and administrative advice to science project leaders across the organisation.  This is to ensure that funding proposals are prepared in line with funder financial guidelines and SAMS internal financial requirements.
