PDRA in Marine Conservation, Restoration & Management (D37/23.EC)


Location: Scottish Association for Marine Science, Oban

Contract Type: Fixed Term (24 months)

Working Pattern:  Full Time (37hrs per week, Monday to Friday)

Salary Range:  £31,396.00 - £34,980.00 per annum

The Role

The role will involve (i) identifying the key gaps in global policies and legislation that need to be addressed to support the protection and restoration of marine habitats, particularly those including seaweeds, (ii) understanding the knowledge, attitude and practices of local communities, primarily in Malaysia, in terms of existing conservation, restoration and management practices for wild seaweeds and (iii) devising new innovative restoration practices that can enhance biodiversity.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate must have a PhD in an agri- or marine conservation, restoration and/or management research area or related field and have published their work in high impact scientific journals. Some experience in policy analysis would be helpful. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in working with researchers from other cultures. You will also attend international conferences (Malaysia, Canada and France) and undertake a short research trip (~3 weeks) to Malaysia.
