06 Quiz winners

The SAMS Open Evenings always have a slight competitive edge for your younger visitors, as prizes can be won for a quiz that requires the children to visit all displays and to talk to our scientists. Coincidentally that allows their parents the time to browse all displays...

This year SAMS UHI final year undergraduate students Tracy White (left) and Caroline Carter (right) put together questions covering the entire breadth of the topics displayed at the annual SAMS Open Evening in March. All children entering the competition made a really good effort - especially with their drawings of toxic algal species they saw under the microscope! The eventual winners were Daniel Day for the under 10s (2nd left), and Duncan Hopkinson for the over 10s (2nd right). Both came to SAMS for a follow-up visit to receive their prizes, which had been donated by the Oban branch of Ottakar's. Congratulations to Daniel and Duncan!

Every year SAMS also awards a prize to the highest achieving science student from Oban High School.
