MID-FLOE! SAMS scientists in Antarctic this week

SAMS Scientists are mid-way through deploying oceanographic moorings amidst pack ice near the Antarctic Continent. The BAS ship RRS Ernest Shackleton is currently working in the Weddell Sea on a joint BAS/UEA/SAMS project called UK SASSI:   Synoptic Antarctic Shelf-Slope Interactions study. UK SASSI is part of an international effort to quantify the freshwater loss from ice melting around the Antarctic Continent.
