Algal Bio-Resources Support Scientist

A former freshwater ecologist with a background in Quality Management Systems, I have a BSc from the University of Aberdeen and an MSc from Bournemouth University.

I joined SAMS in 2017, and my primary role involves the maintenance of a section of strains of green algae, brown seaweed and protozoa in the Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa.

My role

My main role is to maintain a section of CCAP strains, including groups of green algae, brown seaweeds and protozoa. I am responsible for cleaning contaminated cultures, reviewing their taxonomic status and completing the photographic collection for all the strains.
