CCAP Support Scientist

I graduated from the University of Stirling with a BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology in 2025. During my degree, I developed interests in marine ecology, microbiology and the use of algae as bioindicators for monitoring pollution in our waters. My undergraduate research focused on analysing the nearshore microbiome around the Isle of Lewis, where I gained practical experience in water sampling and filtering, and molecular laboratory techniques, including DNA extraction and purification, PCR and gel electrophoresis, alongside ecological data analysis using RStudio.

I joined the CCAP team in 2026 as a Support Scientist where I primarily prepare and supply sterile media and manage media orders. I am particularly interested in developing my laboratory and microbiology skills and gaining further experience in the maintenance and management of a culture collection.
