This year the Ocean Leader Scholarships are generously sponsored by the BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership.
Maximising energy sustainability in Scotland has been a long-term goal of the Scottish Government and figures for 2023 show that Scotland produced more energy than it used. Capacity within the offshore and onshore wind sector increased by 10 %, and production accounts for more than 75 % of all energy produced (Scottish Government 2024 Renewable electricity growth - gov.scot). Predictions indicate further extensive growth in the offshore wind sector in Scotland. BlueFloat Energy and Nadara are keen to support marine scientists who have aspirations for a career either within or supporting the offshore renewable sector. We have a limited number of one-off bursaries of £1500 each (paid in 2 instalments at the start of each semester in Academic Year 2025/26)
Please see application form for eligibility.

The Scottish Association for Marine Science is committed to supporting talent from around the world to study marine science here in Oban, on the west coast of Scotland. This year we have 3 international scholarships on offer to international (non EU) undergraduate students who share our vision for healthy and sustainable oceans. At SAMS we are training the next generation of marine scientists, the future stewards of the marine environment. SAMS students pursue careers as scientific researchers, conservation management specialists, marine biotechnologists, science teachers, environmental consultants and policy makers – all equipped to increase our, and the publics, understanding of the world’s oceans. Where do you see your future as an advocate or guardian of our seas and oceans?
