Scottish Sea Farms

In 2025, SAMS marked a major milestone: ten years of the world-leading Joint Master’s in Aquaculture, Environment and Society-STAR (ACES) programme. To celebrate, we welcomed alumni from across the globe back to Oban for a special reunion event - The Decade of ACES Conference - proudly supported by Major Sponsor, Scottish Sea Farms.

This partnership was more than a sponsorship; it was a powerful expression of shared purpose and ambition. Both ACES and Scottish Sea Farms are deeply committed to advancing sustainability in aquaculture and helping to secure the future of global food systems. With ACES cultivating the next generation of aquaculture leaders, and Scottish Sea Farms driving innovation on the ground, the alignment was meaningful.

For years, ACES students have visited Scottish Sea Farms’ Barcaldine facility just outside Oban as part of their studies - an experience that has brought real-world insight and connection to the classroom. That long-standing relationship made this sponsorship not only fitting but genuinely authentic.

ACES alumni are already helping shape a more sustainable global seafood sector - and they’re just getting started. With an international network now spanning ten years, the ACES community is laying the foundation for impactful careers, innovative thinking, and a more secure food future for us all.
