Underwater video observatory goes live

The first live-streamed underwater video observatory for scientific research has just gone live from a fjord on the west coast of Sweden. A team of scientists from the UK and Sweden have developed a permanent window into the marine world, allowing both researchers and the public alike continuous observations of natural processes in the marine environment.

SAMS' Dr Kim Last explains the importance of this technology for ecological and behavioural studies: "Continuous data from the marine environment is a crucial advance that will provide a better understanding of how marine ecosystems function."
