Vessel Skipper

I am responsible for skippering and maintaining SAMS’ research vessels and working with scientists, students, lecturers and external hirers to plan and get the most out of their time onboard. I make sure that the vessel and everyone onboard is safe, while managing to get the data or samples that are required.

I first came to SAMS as an undergraduate student, and stayed for my PhD. After a few years away working in marine training and outdoor education I’m very excited to be back at SAMS in a very different role to before, combining my scientific background with my maritime and boating instruction experience.
