Research Contract Administrator (D12/24.JB)


Location:  SAMS, Oban

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern:  We are open to part-time/full-time working but must be able to work at least 25 hrs per week. 

Working days:  Monday to Friday (there may be flexibility to work lesser days)

Salary Range:  £26,444 - £29,605 per annum (pro rata)

The Role

The post will primarily sit within a small team who manage SAMS scientific research contracts, project funding awards, regular reporting, advice and guidance to project managers and carry out financial administration tasks. 

Supported by the line manager, you will produce accurate and timely claims against fund markers to ensure projects are properly compensated for works completed and will proactively work with fund holders to ensure accurate and timely information is provided for audits.

In addition, you will liaise with Project Managers/budget holders to resolve any queries or concerns with the financial performance of projects.

You may also need to be flexible in assisting the wider finance team with other duties, occasionally, such as during busy periods, critical deadlines or the preparation of the annual staff budget.  Advance notice will always be provided, where this is the case.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has previous experience working in contract management, compliancy or academic administration but we are also open to experienced administrators who may be proactive, organised, pay attention to detail and who may be looking for a new challenge.

You will be expected to plan your work activities independently and be able to complete all tasks accurately and timely to meet both team and project deadlines.

Proven communication and problem-solving skills are essential as is experience using Microsoft Office packages such as Excel and Outlook.

Experience in Finance Business Partnering is desirable; however, training will be provided over time.

If you have used financial or other databases, this would be useful.
