Clearing 2018

Take the leap into marine science during clearing 2018

We still have a few spaces available on our Marine Science BSc - including the Arctic Studies and Oceanography with Robotics streams - for entry this September.

What is clearing?

Clearing is the process that allows you to get onto a university programme last minute. If you want to start studying in September 2018 but hold no offer from a university or none that you want to accept, clearing is your way in.

Clearing is for you if you...

  • >missed the UCAS application deadline and so haven't applied to university yet
  • >were unlucky and didn't get (or fear that you didn't get) the grades you need to meet the conditions offered
  • >haven't received an offer for the programmes you applied for
  • >have changed your mind and want to study something or somewhere different than before

For more general information and advice on Clearing, please visit the UCAS website.

If you are INTERESTED in studying marine science at SAMS UHI, please look at our programme pages which give a lot of information.

To APPLY for the BSc Marine Science programme, please send your Personal ID Number for UCAS to admissions@sams.ac.uk. If you are not registered via UCAS, please send instead your qualifications and CV including a brief personal statement on your motivation. We usually make our decision within 24 hours of receiving your application and will direct you thereafter to the next steps to take.

If you have further QUESTIONS, email course leader Dr John Howe (John.Howe@sams.ac.uk). During office hours you can also phone John on 01631 559 257. If John is not available, please call our receptionist on 01631 559 000 and ask to speak to someone about applying to the marine science BSc programme.

We hope to welcome you as a marine science student in September!
