A retail financial services veteran of 35 years Alun brings experience from a wide range of heavily regulated organisations including top flight PLC and mutual businesses, the public sector, a high growth private equity owned “challenger” bank and four start-ups, two of which have been floated on the stock market (one in UK and one in the Middle East).

With 18 years in leadership roles, including as marketing director and commercial director Alun’s functional competencies focus on business growth strategy, sales, marketing and customer services underpinned by the data, technology, product and operational capability required to deliver these, whilst also ensuring appropriate risk management and other governance frameworks are in place at all times.

As a teenager Alun was on a path to Marine Biology, studying Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Geography at A-level and with university offers in place. He didn’t get the results needed and instead embarked on a very different career, making up for his earlier lackluster academic performance by getting an MBA from Loughborough University in the late 90s and subsequently a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

As a keen sea kayaker and yachtsman Alun loves the Western Isles and although English by birth his parents were both Celts, his mother heralding from Fife.
